Who We Are

Decoherence Media is an independent, journalist-founded nonprofit investigating authoritarian and anti-democratic movements using open-source and data-driven methods.

At a time when masked agents of the state act with impunity, emboldened neo-Nazi groups march in the streets, and one institution after another legitimizes authoritarian consolidation, there is a need for unflinching reporting to hold these forces to account. We will identify and expose fascists, whether they are wearing khakis, a suit, or a badge.

Decoherence Media is a 501(c)(3) registered nonprofit, EIN 33-4984621.

About the founders

Tristan Lee is a data scientist and journalist who uses open-source methods to investigate far-right networks. With a background in computational physics, he started investigating and exposing neo-Nazi communities as a hobby. Before co-founding Decoherence Media, Tristan worked as a data scientist for Bellingcat, developing software tools and researching the far-right. In 2025, he won the Al Neuharth Innovation in Investigative Journalism Award for his work with The Texas Observer on open-source extremist identifications.

Jennefer Harper is a Pacific Northwest based researcher, writer, and educator, with a long background in the field of education and teaching. Before co-founding Decoherence Media, Jennefer worked as a legal assistant and private investigator. Most recently, her work focuses on far-right extremism in the U.S. and transnational networks. Jennefer approaches her research and reporting through an intersectional framework using open and closed sources. She has a special interest in accelerationism, youth radicalization, and government misconduct. In 2025, her work on a written investigation with The New Arab was shortlisted for an Amnesty Media Award.
